I can´t make my spywarescan run after 12:00:00 in the daytime.
If i try setting it to 22:00:00 it just jumps to 10:00:00.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem

Yes it is a bug, workaround if your outside the USA:

Go to start/Control Panel/Country settings
Change Language to US English.
Click on Apply
Open MSAS change all your time settings the way you wont.
Click on "Update Schedule"
Then go back to set your default Language.
MSAS will scan and update on the right time!
Don't Click "Update Schedule", anymore, then it go's back to the AM
times again!

Hi,

I just noticed problems with something similar to this. I noticed tonight
when after I ran a full scan that my settings were screwed up. First I notice
that when I go to open the Beta1 spyware scan, an assistant comes on as if I
were installing this for the first time. It keeps doing this. Also, when I go
to the scheduler it has defaulted to nothing scheduled. When I designate the
weekly time, say at 1:00 am, and then check the box for a 'full system scan'
and the box to show the details, it reverts back to a default when I hit the
button for update settings. In other words the items I have checked off, are
now not checked. It is as if I cannot change anything on this.
I am perplexed. I did run a full scan with my Norton Antivirus and found a
trojan virus that was infecting a file and it was quarantined as Symantec
could not repair it. I wonder if this virus (and I don't know what file(s)
were infected) had anything to do with my Microsoft Antispyware or settings?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi devildog22.

Try these two solutions:

A) You can repair Windows AntiSpyware using Add or Remove Programs in
Control Panel. Click Microsoft AntiSpyware and click Change. Click Next, and
then click Updªte.

B) Use the Repair Function in the ADD / REMOVE PROGRAM section in the
Control Panel.

Then, try these steps:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> type in -> command)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without the quºtes).
3) Close and re-open Windows Defender.

You can go ahead and do both of these--neither has any downside risk--and
see if that does the jºb.

Let us know whether it does, or nºt!

Thanks,

I tried the first option you mentioned that I had seen in another post
(maybe yours) and it seemed to work. It seems like you are one of the
resident experts! I will be checking into this website quite often. By the
way, any idea when the Beta2 version of MS AntiSpyware is to come out?
Thanks again.

I believe this is caused by a bug in the beta1 product, and not by a virus
or trojan's activities.

And, we now have an easy fix for this:

1) Shut down Microsoft Antispyware by right-clicking on the notification
area icon and choosing shut down.

2) Delete or rename \program files\microsoft Antispyware\gcUserData.gcd

3) restart Microsoft Antispyware via start, all programs, microsoft
antispyware, etc.

You will go through one more iteration of the startup wizard, but that
should take care of it.

Hey Bill,
Thanks also for your reply. I will see if this fix is necessary to fix the
problem, if Engel's suggestion doesn't work. So far, by updating this in the
add/remove programs in the Control Panel it seems to be working okay. I am
new to these posts but I see between the advice you and Engel give, it is
like having a live Windows tech manual right at everyone's fingertips. Much
appreciated.

If Engel's fix took care of it for you--that's great--and useful information
for me--his advice is slightly easier to post, and a little "safer"--i.e.
easer for the average person to do without risk of error.
