problems with quick launch

My quick launch toolbar suddenly disappeared. When I
attempt to put it back on I receive an error
message, "cannot create toolbar."

Running 2000 Pro with SP4.

Any suggestions?
 
Do you still have this folder?
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Quick Launch

Not certain but perhaps it helps you that these need to exist:
%userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\

%userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\Desktop.scf
which is (always?) 79 bytes in size.
