Problems with Panda and McAfee

This is for panda_man (or anyone who knows what I'm talking about):

My new PC came with a McAfee Virusscan Online (I believe version 9) which
was removed (Add/Remove) in order to install a Panda Platinum Int. Sec.
2005(box version), which I did with no problems at all.
Recently I downloaded the Platinum 2006 and haven't been able to install it
because it is detecting what seems to be remnants of McAfee. I ran a McAfee
tool to completely remove the AV (which supposedly it did) but Platinum 2006
is still detecting McAfee and won't install.
A mcaffemaniac told me (in a forum) that I have to go into the registry,
find the remnants myself and delete them. I don't know a lot about computers
and would rather not work with the registry. Can you suggest me any other
way of handling this problem (in order to be able to install my Platinum
2006) without having to deal with the registry?
I have Win XP SP2, Home Edition.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You remove bad or incorrect registry entries by hunting them down in the
registry and deleting them. I know of no other way that is safe - not that
doing it manually is safe either. Delete an incorrect key and turn your
computer into a non booting paper weight.

There is an important reg key that is still in and Panda thinks you have
McAfee.May be there is a folder in C:\Program files or stuff like that...
Glad to hear you like Panda and especially the new 2006.

Just contact Panda's tech support and ask them for help
