I have a major problem with my P4T533-C. The system seems very
unstable and consistently "spikes" the CPU, causing glitches and
drops in applications. I mainly use the PC to run cubase sx, and have
512 mb of 1066 rambus installed. Also, I cannot shut down without
getting the following bluescreen message
STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x804D3EOC,0xF820D453,0x00000000).
If someone could please advise it would be much appreciated.
Bios version is 1009, although I'm just about to update to 1010

You have a hardware or software problem. This is a VERY stable board if
the hardware is not defective and the software is properly installed.
The shutdown problem is more likely software than hardware. I'd first
try a really good memory test (Memtest86 or the Microsoft test), then a
clean install to see if it is a software issue (possibly on a "scrap"
hard drive, at least until you see what happens), then if you still have
problems, RMA the board to Asus.

THANX, , BUT I TRIED CLEAN INSTALL A MILLION TIMES AND IT JUST
EVENTUALLY GOES TITS UP after a while. I'll try memtest 86 and let you
know.

There was some bad Kingston PC1066 ram some time ago. Make sure you don't
have some of it.

Indeed, I've got 256 MB of this bad ram. This ram worked without any
issues - it was just incompatible with the "original" pc1066 rdram (I guess
timing and voltage)...
