I upgraded Windows ME to XP Home Edition - we are running
Office 2000 also. There are 4 users on the machine and all
have administrator privledges. For 3 of the 4 users,
Outlook reconfigured itself to run under XP. For one
user, I continue to get the message that "Outlook was
unable to configure itself for your new version of
Windows". I tried "detect and repair" within Outlook, I
tried removing and reinstalling Office 2000 and got the
same problem. I tried renaming the "exdtend.dat" file (see
MS KB article 820671). I tried setting
the "AllowLockdownMedia=1" in regedit (see KB article
313982) and I tried "modifying the access for all users in
Office under regedt32 (see KB articl 235530). I also
looked at orther articles in the knowledge base (825034
and 302906), but they did not help.
All critical updates for windows XP and Office 2000 were
downloaded and applied. Everything else seems to work
except Outlook for 1 of the 4 users.
There are no virus or firewall programs running.
