I am having some interesting problems with NikonScan 4.0.x software
running on a Mac and driving a Nikon 5000ED.
1. The software will preview fine and then I will start the scan. The
scan is "acquired" and the progress bar hits the right hand side
but nothing else happens. There is no final scan nor anything that
can be saved. Once this occurs, the only recourse is to completely
uninstall the software and re-install it. This happens more
frequently using NS 4.0.2 than NS 4.0.
2. When freshly installed, the preview can be updated with new values
for DEE and ROC/GEM and the changes are handled without
re-previewing the slide. Eventually, this behavior changes and
selecting new DEE or ROC/GEM values and clicking update results in
a new preview scan occuring. Uninstalling and reinstalling the
software cures this problem but only for awhile.
Nikon 5000 ED
Mac OS X 10.4.7
NikonScan 4.0/4.0.2
Has anyone else seen similar behavior and find a solution for it?
And contacting Nikon was not helpful. "Have you installed the most
current version of the software?" "Is everything plugged in?"
I've gotten quite fast at uninstalling and reinstalling the
software.
