Hi,
I've got a Win2000-system with two network adapters, which work in different
sub nets (192.168.1.0 and 192.168.2.0). This setup did work for severak
month without any problem until the whole machine crashed und thereby the
hdd was destroyed. After replacing the HDD and installing the win2000 again
I encountered a weird behavior with the network adapters, which sometimes
did disappear from the list of hardware after rebooting the system and had
to be reinstalled. Sometimes I got three network adapters (only two were
active). The setup for the IP protocols were sometimes reset to DHCP after
reboot.A deinstallation and removing the network adapters and a new
installation did solve the problem for about two weeks. Now I've got the
problem again. The IP-setup is reset to DHCP and does not even accept the
changes made by me. An OK on the IP-setup and immideatelly accessing the
IP-setup dialog again shows me the old setup (DHCP again). Scandisk did not
find any errors on the HDD.
Is it possible that the crash of the system did not only damage the HDD but
also the mainboard and/or CPU? The strange thing is that the system behavior
is only unpredictable in the IP-setup - nowhere else.
Any ideas?
