Hello,

Got a wierd issue going on with a xp box I just built. The network card that
is installed doesn't work properly. It assigns itself with a 169.152.X.X
addy when its supposed to be getting the ip from dhcp from my win2k server
box. I tried to set the ip config manually (which I have no trouble with on
any of the other 5 machines) and it will not ping the server. I thought it
was the card, so I replaced it with 4 other cards laying around, still no
go. Now this is where it gets interesting. If I boot into safemode +
networking the card works fine. I can ping the server with manual config,
and the card will accept dhcp addressing. However when booting normaly it no
longer works. Its a brand new box, with nothing other than XP SP1 running.
If anyone has any ideas please post. I am also using 6 other cards all the
same brand and make they have no problem with xp.

Thanks,

Aaron

Thanks BachPhi,

However there is no conflicts with IRQ's or I/O addys or memory usage. I
tryied the netsh command to reset the tcp/ip stack and that did no good
either. I have disabled some of the services used by the network card, and
it to did not work. So once again I can't access the network. If I ping the
network card address it is ok, and the loopback, but I can't ping anyother
machine.
