Recently, I re-installed Windows XP on a new hard disk, followed by the
drivers for my Hercules Graphical Card. This card uses an ATI-Radeon Chip
(9500 series). I also installed all updates for Windows XP available up
until now.
However, I am now having problems with my ATI drivers. For every time I
re-boot the PC I keep on getting the following error message:
ATI's desktop manager is being unloaded because an ATI display driver is not
currently running.
If you have administrator privileges, click "Reset" to revert to the default
display settings. Select "Cancel" to close this window with no changes.
To permanently remove an installed ATI display driver, use the Add/Remove
Programs control panel.
I also recently have had difficulties with my flight simulator 2004
programme, as my system freezes as soon as I have loaded a new "flight" file
(*.STN). I cannot escape from the impression that my graphical card is mal
functioning due to the inactivity opf the ATI driver.
But what causes the ATI driver to become inactive? I even re-installed the
drivers for the graphical card but the error message mentioned above keeps
on returning on reboot.
Can anybody tell me what the problem is and how the problem has to be
solved?
Many thanks in advance.
