When I am at home and I connect to my work through our VPN, all internet
traffic on my computer is routed through the VPN connection. Which
means that sites they have blocked are inaccessible on my computer at
home.

Is there a way around this? There are times when I have to log in to
work and monitor a process which takes hours (just glance at the screen
now and again to make sure it's still running), but since I'm at home I
want to access YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, etc...

Depending on your VPN connection software, you will need to change the
setting of "Use default gateway on remote network...." so as to route
all Internet traffic over to your Internet service. However, the
person(s) / company that manage the network may contact you to have
the settings undone.
