I am fed up with everything with Window XP with XP3. I still don't
understand why Microsoft do nothing to help out for need something for XP3
version which has problem to install the RealTek HD Audio Driver. It really
need that because of programs on my PC still know there is no sound driver
which cause slow down or hang up which need run with sound files.

I have tried to read how to do that, all these comments show how to config.
proper to install the RealTek HD Audio Driver VS Audio Device on HD Audio
Bus. But in the device manager, that Audio Device on HD Audio Bus showed
seems ok properly but one thing it showed unknow. It might not run properly
even it said properly run ok.

When I install the RealTek HD audio driver, it almost completed but it said
"HD Audio Driver Failure and Error code:0xE0000227. I have done repeat try
to solve, no successfully.

I wish Microsoft should do it to something about that for SP3. I not like
have hard time how to update hard way. I understand you only do for SP1 and
SP2, and NOT SP3. Come on, please. I really need this solve the matter to
help my window xp run properly so I able to run programs. Don't ask me to go
to get update driver from the motherboard website. IT is not work either too.

Thanks for cooperate, please help....

Addressing by quotation, " I still don't understand why Microsoft do nothing
to help out for need something for XP3 version which has problem to install
the RealTek HD Audio Driver." --> because Microsoft did not create the
hardweare you are looking to get support for. They do not provide the
support for the realtek device - they do not provide the driver (although
some version of it may have been included with Windows because the
manufacturer submitted it at some point in the past.)

If your motherboard manufacturer has chosen not to support their hardware -
it's probably time to move on after complaining loudly about their lack of
support.

Who made your motherboard with the built-in sound? What make/model is the
computer? What make/model is the motherboard? (http://www.belarc.com/ can
help you answer those questions.)

You say, "Don't ask me to go to get update driver from the motherboard
website. IT is not work either too." --> but that is where the support for
the device is supposed to come from. You could have installed many
different flavors of *nix on that system, you could have installed BeOS, IBM
OS/2, etc - but the drivers for your hardware devices to properly
communicate with whatever OS you choose to use is the responsibility of the
hardware device manufacturers (mainly because they have the inside track on
how their device works.)

Tried a generic chipset driver from RealTek?

If I'm not mistaken then your RealTek device and driver is produced by the
RealTek Semiconductor Corporation, not by Microsoft. They would be the
people you should aim your complaint at. Have a look here:

"If thine eye offend thee, pluck it out." (Mark 9:47)...

1. Stop the Automatic Updates service:

Start > Run > (type in) services.msc > [OK]
Double-click Automatic Updates > Click on Stop
(Stopping the service will take a moment)

2. Delete the contents of the Download folder:

Start > Run > (type in) %windir%\SoftwareDistribution > [OK]
Open the Download folder and delete its contents
Close the window.

3. Go to Windows Update website | Select CUSTOM and allow the scan to
complete | Uncheck/deselect the Realtek HD Audio Driver update and hide it
("Don't show me this update again").

4. Start the Automatic Updates service:

Start > Run > (type in) services.msc > [OK]
Double-click Automatic Updates > Click on Start
(Starting the service will take a moment)

"1. Enter into "Add or Remove Programs" and remove "Realtek High Definition Audio Driver"
2. Disable all "Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio" in Device Manager first
3. Then uninstall all "Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio" from the system.
4. Reboot system
5. Reinstall "Realtek HD Audio driver" from Motherboard Support CD."

Give that a try.

This seems to be an ongoing conflict with several Realtek drivers.
You must check with the motherboard manufacturer so as the ensure that
you have a Realtek HD audio module and not the Realtek AC'97. HD and
AC'97 are not interchangeable. If you truly require the Realtek HD
drivers, check on Realtek's download section and get the latest (2.32.)

Thanks for explain clear about it. One thing I forget the important key.

I think everything go fine with latest RealTek driver I did download today.
On my pc, there is no RealTek Driver loaded in my pc system since it failed
to completed install whole. Anyway one thing, in the Device Manager in the
hardware list. I know able to uninstall any of devices whatever not need or
redo. I did disabled the "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus" then
next thing I clicked to uninstall it. It said like said want go ahead, I
clicked it to go ahead. The next message said can't uninstall and the device
required to boot up the computer. After that I reboot and try again to
uninstall, but it will do nothing. How can it uninstall?

Thanks,
Dan

Shut down your computer and open the case. Disconnect all of the wires that
attach to the mainboard. Remove the screws that secure the mainboard to the
case. Remove the mainboard complete with processor and RAM. Go to local
electronics supply dealer and buy modern mainboard, matching processor, and
RAM. Install new mainboard into computer case, secure with screws. Place
processor into processor socket on mainboard and lock in place with provided
mechanism. Attach heatsink and fan provided with the processor. Place RAM
modules into available slots, taking care to secure the locking tabs.
Reconnect all of the wires into the appropriate receptacles on the mainboard.
Replace the computer case cover and secure with screws.

Boot the machine and press "delete" key to enter the BIOS. Set the boot
order to boot from CD. Place your Windows XP CD in the optical drive, save
the BIOS settings and exit. Press any key when prompted to do so by the XP
CD. Follow the instructions here to perform a clean install of Windows XP:

http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html

Eject the XP CD and reboot the computer. Place the Service Pack 3 CD into
the optical drive and proceed with the install routine. Eject the SP3 CD when
prompted and reboot the machine.

Place the "Drivers and Mainboard Utilities" CD into the optical drive and
follow the prompts to install the drivers for the new mainboard. Reboot as
required by the prompts. Eject the CD and reboot one more time.

Go online and download all of the latest updates from the Windows Updates
site. Reinstall all of your applications. Enjoy.

"Cannot uninstall this device because its descendants refused the request.
This can happen if the device's descendants are required to boot up the computer."

In that thread, that message seems to be tied to the installation of the
RealTek driver. The RealTek driver seems to be preventing the UAA from being
uninstalled. Once the ReakTek driver is removed, then you should be
able to uninstall the UAA. (And logically, the question at this point
would be, "How can a driver which has not successfully installed,
be preventing the uninstall of UAA" comes to mind.)

I tried a test here. I have WinXP SP3 and Realtek HDAudio. It is working
right now. I disabled UAA. I uninstalled UAA. I rebooted. UAA was
automatically discovered and installed again. So that is not very
useful. I found another suggestion here, and instead of rebooting, they
"Scan for hardware changes" as the next step. That scan, enumerates and
detects both the RealTek and the UAA.

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/archive/index.php/t-911620.html

Paraphrasing their suggestion (which actually comes from Gigabyte web site) ...

1. Disable UAA.
2. Uninstall UAA but don't reboot.
3. Right click the computer name at the very top of Device Manager,
and select "Scan for hardware changes". (My Device Manager doesn't
have the scan button, so I use the right click instead.)
4. When the "Found New Hardware" wizard appears, click Cancel.
5. Install the RealTek driver package.

This page is an example of the Gigabyte recipe. It has pictures.

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/FAQ_List.aspx?FAQID=2538&ProductID=2740

At this point, the part that worries me, is your ReakTek driver is not
installed, and yet you're getting the

"Cannot uninstall this device because its descendants refused the request.
This can happen if the device's descendants are required to boot up the computer."

message. And to cure that, the suggestion is to remove the RealTek driver --
which at this point, has not successfully uninstalled.

*******
This is the recipe provided by Asus Tech Support for the RealTek
problem. I don't have an original link for this, and this
is my own paraphrasing of the procedure. I think the original
advice may have been an email from Tech Support.

1)Go in safe mode [ Press F8 when the computer is booting ]

2)Disable the HD audio device under Sound Video Games
controllers, do not uninstall it here!

3)Disable under the system devices "Microsoft UAA bus driver for high
definition audio", do not uninstall it here!

4)Now uninstall the "Microsoft UAA bus driver for high definition audio"
(via this device manager in safe mode), the HD audio device will then
also be uninstalled automatically.

5)Install the latest driver for your motherboard.

By using Safe Mode, it is possible the OS will allow you to
do the uninstall of UAA step.

In your initial post you wrote this:

- I am fed up with everything with Window XP with XP3.

- I still don't understand why Microsoft do nothing to help out for need
something for XP3 version which has problem to install the RealTek HD Audio

- I wish Microsoft should do it to something about that for SP3.

For your next post you might want to remember that it is best to *ask* what
might be wrong. Pointing your finger the way you did is unproductive.

Thanks, finally got it worked as follow your method. I did not think first
place about look in the system devices in the device manager. I entered in
Safe Mode. I did disabled all audio showed in the Sound Video Games
controllers. Then I go to System Devices and found that one I asked about
it, finally, I disabled it first. Then I uninstalled all audio in the Sound
Video Games controllers. Then go back to System Devices to uninstall that
one. Then I reboot then went into safe mode to make sure. It is cleared, as
when the window hardware found, I said not at this time for now then i
installed lastest RelTek audio driver from internet and it succesfully
installed. Then I reboot as it asked for it. Let it run in normal window,
then it asked for window hardware found, I go ahead click to update, it added
"UAA Mircosoft...."

I went tested to check on the sound folders in the control panel, finally it
showed RelTek information. Now Finally I able to run the games and programs
which required for it. Thanks for hint, now I will remember in future.

Thanks,
Dan

Maybe some day, RealTek will fix this :-)

First - the OP already has resolved their issue. Please review the

Second - the general consensus seems to be that one should always get their
support, drivers and software for a hardware device from those who actually
created the the device and thus actually should be and generally do provide
support for said device.

Into the uppercase thing, eh? Emphasizing every word or just the first
sound of every word? *grin*
