problems with IE

hello there,
I really got in trouble with my IE this time...I can't figure out the problem.
Weeks ago my IE resolution started to have some problems...I surf with a
1280 x 1024 resolution but for some bad reasons my IE resolution was 800x600
and I couldnt fix it. So I decided to change browser and got mozilla firefox.
The actual problem is this: when I run programs like norton it ask fro IE 5
or higher but I dont understand why it sais this cause I still have my IE and
it works as a default browser.
I even tried to download IE again but when I install it, it sais that a
higher version is on already!

For those of you who want to help me, I have a windows XP professional
service pack 2.

I need your help please!

Depending on what you mean by "run programs like norton"
the problem could be the User-Agent being sent with requests
makes it look as if you are using a less capable browser;
so a remote application would say "Sorry we can't work with this
less capable browser." But instead of showing you exactly
what it sees as wrong it is trying to interpret what is wrong and give
you a solution to that inferred (but non-existent) problem.

Try using this diagnostic site to see exactly what is being sent
with each request:

http://www.fiddlertool.com/useragent.aspx

Correct. XP comes with IE6 as a preinstalled browser.
XPsp2 incorporates a unique version of IE6 functionality
sometimes called IE6sp2. It is no longer possible to
install or uninstall the IE6 product, since the browser functionality
is now part of the OS.

I suspect there is nothing wrong with your IE.

Provide more details about your problem symptoms if you need more help.
