Problems with http requests

I have a PC with Windows XP Home Edition, broadband
Internet access and Norton Firewall. All of them have
worked without major difficulties for about a year.
Suddenly since two days ago I am not able to access any
web page neither by using Internet Explorer nor Netscape,
nor to connect with MSN Messenger. I know there is a
connection to the Internet since Pings to external IP
addresses are successful and I am able to listen to radio
stations preset in RealOne Player. It seems to be a
problem with http requests. The only thing I recently
installed in my computer is SimCity 4 but that was almost
a week ago, so I don't think it is related to the problem.
I hope somebody can give me some ideas about this.

I don't know why, after using Norton Firewall for a few months, suddenly
seemed to become a problem. I had tried just to disable it and it didn't
work, so I went farther now and uninstalled it. Right away, I got my http
connection back. I activated now the Windows XP Firewall, hopefully it will
give my PC enough protection.
