I am having the exact problem discussed here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/913384.

It is a Windows 2003 Server, with all .NET 3.5 SP1 which I believe upgrades
the .NET 2.0 runtime to SP2.

I have downloaded the appropriate hotfix from the following location:
http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/KB913384

However, I am unable to install it because I get this message:
"The upgrade patch can not be installed by the Windows Installer service
beacause the program to be upgraded may be missing or the upgraded patch may
update a different version of the program. Verify the program to be upgraded
exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch."

My specific issue is that the application pool running under the NETWORK
SERVICE account is crashing for a .NET 2.0 website. The specific error is
this:

Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 6.0.3790.1830, stamp 42435be1,
faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 2.0.50727.3053, stamp 4889dc18, debug?
0, fault address 0x00165361.

I would rather not change the account that the application pool runs under.

Is there any way to get this hotfix installed, or to resolve this issue some
other way? Thanks-

I'm having the same problem after applying all the live updates to my Windows
2003 server. I get the same error when trying to apply the KB913384 patch.
Can anyone offer any help on this?
