Problems with generic USB hardware

While trialing Windows Vista these days, i bumped to an unusual problem.
After few days of working fine, it started to appear that every time i plug
in an USB device (flash or another ordinary mass storage device) the wizard
'found new hardware' pops up and i have to manually point to C:\Windows
directory to be able to install the driver for an ordinary USB flash stick
(sometimes i even see two or three popups for one device, and everything has
to be installed manually). I never had such problem with my Win XP before,
installations of generic devices were always automatic. Also searched other
forums and google, and it seems that many people are experiencing similar
problems (might be due to some pice of software installed, but nobody san
pinpoint which one).
So....does anyone knows a solution to these problems?
Also, I belive it would be smart that Microsoft's technical stuff is
notified since this might be a possible bug in OS (as i said, many people are
experiencing it), so that they can come up with a viable solution, possibly
in a form of an update or something similar.
Thanks!
Ivan

This solution has worked for some people with problematic USB devices:

Locate the file INFCACHE.1 in C:\Windows\inf

Right click on the INFCACHE.1 file, select Properties >Security > Edit, and give
your account full control.

Delete INFCACHE.1, or rename it to INFCACHE.1.BAK or temporarily move to your
desktop.

REBOOT

Hot Damn! it worked! :)
Thanks a MILLION!
I'll try to post this on other forums where users also have this problem but
don't know how to fix it.
Cheers!

You're welcome.

You can now delete (if you haven't already) the INFCACHE.1 file (Windows will
not recreate it).
