Problems with Gantt chart in Excel

I'm a novice using Excel 2007 and trying to create my first Gannt chart.

The result is at

Obviously I am doing something wrong because it does not look like the
example I followed in:
http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=343
under "A Simple Gantt Chart Using an Excel Stacked Bar Chart"

What am I doing wrong?

That is the site whose example I followed, but it did not come out as he
shows it, so I must have missed some important step or instruction.

Have a look at Tushar Mehta's site. There is a free Addon for Gantt
charts:

is quite simple to follow
