I have 2 computers, a dell with XP and a sony vaio notebook with firewire
I rean the xp connection wizard, produced a disk, installed on sony, and all looked good. - the Dell even said "found new hardware - Sony Vaio and installed a driver for it from the internet!
The sony shows a firewire ethernet adapter with ip adress etc
The dell shows a connected firewire, but under "support" shows all ip addresses <Unavailable>. If I try and repair, it gives the error: "tcp/ip is not enabled for this connection".
But tcp IS enabled for this connection: If I double click on the connection, select properties, ip, file and shareing, and client for ms networks are all ticked. I have even told it to use an specific IP

Have tried disabling, renabling, rebooting etc

Any help appreciated

Gary

Gary.

Try deleting the FireWire network adapter in Device Manager. Then,
reboot and let XP re-install it.
