Hello

I have recently installed WinXP, and having always used ZoneAlarm on
previous versions of windows, have also downloaded and installed that as
well.

Problem is, I am having problems that I never had before, namely with FTP.

The 2 programs I use for FTP are FrontPage 2002 and WiseFTP1.0.

Neither of these programs can communicate with the FTP server if I leave
ZoneAlarm running. Not a problem I ever had with WinME.

I know (well, I think) XP has a built-in firewall, so my question is... do I
really need to have ZoneAlarm running as well?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jay

Sorry forgot to mention...

Its WinXP Professional, and the windows firewall isn't actually enabled.

Thanks

No ! XP firewall give good incoming protection. Do you need outgoing
protection ? I don't think so. Jym

OK, ditched ZA and now just using the XP firewall.

I would advise you do the opposite, ditch the XP firewall and use ZA.

The reason being that the XP firewall only gives incoming prevention
and ZA gives incoming and outgoing protection. You now need the extra
protection to warn if programs installed on your computer are spyware
or in case you have a worm or get infected with a virus etc.
