I choose not to use the firewall in Windows XP Pro. I set it to "I will
monitor the firewall myself" and tell Security alerts not to alert me about
firewall protection. As soon as I reboot my computer, the alert is there. It
happens everytime I reboot my computer. My settings aren't saved so I have
to tell it each time that I will monitor my own firewall..

Any suggestions? There are actually 3 of with the same problem.

Thank you.

Hi

Have you tried this one:

Control Panel/Security Center, click on the "Change the Way
Security Center Notifies Me" link in the left pane.

If the "Change the Way Security Center Notifies Me" doesn't stick
when you reboot, or you want to disable the Security Center totally,
you can do the following:

Start/Run --> services.msc

Find "Security Center" in the list, double click on it, set
"Startup type" to Disabled.

All you have to do is disable windows firewall service.
IF you do not use internet sharing then it will not harm anything off.

I have same problem

- I do set "monitor firewall myself" and disable firewall in "Alert
Settings", but after a reboot (not always first reboot), I do get warning
again, and above settings are reset. I get to the point I want to remove
SP2.
(Using ZA 4.5, and I don't want to upgrade to ZA 5, and I don't want to use
SP2 firewall....)

Any cluess?

Hi

Many have reported this problem in the newsgroups, it looks like
a bug in SP2.

Workaround:

If the "Change the Way Security Center Notifies Me" doesn't stick
when you reboot, or you want to disable the Security Center totally,
you can do the following:

Start/Run --> services.msc

Find "Security Center" in the list, double click on it, set
"Startup type" to Disabled.
