problems with ems emm expanded memory in w2k dos box

hoping someone can help...

i am trying to run a dos program that requires ems.
strangely, there is no ems available in a dos box - pif
settings have no effect, and an entry of "emm=ram" in the
program's config.nt generates an "Unrecognized command in
CONFIG.SYS / Error in CONFIG.SYS line x" for the line that
the emm= command is on. mem reports nothing about expanded
memory, although it does show extended memory.

config:
w2k pro sp4
512mb ram
athlon tbird 1.4ghz

Make a shortcut to "COMMAND.COM" and then you can edit the memory
setting by r-clicking the shortcut and selecting properties. On the
other hand don't be real suprised if you have a lot of other
difficulties getting your "DOS" program to run as the "DOS" is only
emulated in Windows 2000.
