thanks for your message! I used windows movie maker,
followed the instructions and therefore assume it's saved
as a .wmm file (think). I did not use any further
software to burn the DVD other than that provided by
windows movie maker. Does this make sense?

==================================
I guess you went to...File / Save Movie File /
Recordable CD. Yes, this would be a .wmv
file on a CD...and would not play anywhere
except on a computer.
If you have a Media Center PC...the OEM
version of Movie Maker has an option to
burn a DVD but the reports I've seen have
not been good.
Anyway...if you wish to play your Movie Maker
..wmv file in a DVD player you'll have to use
additional software.
