Help! I have made my film, burnt the disk, and it plays fine on the laptop,
but refuses to play on the DVD player linked to the TV. What have I missed?

It would be helpful to know the steps you used
to create the DVD. What format was the movie
saved in and which software did you use to
create the DVD?

thanks for your message! I used windows movie maker, followed the
instructions and therefore assume it's saved as a .wmm file (think). I did
not use any further software to burn the DVD other than that provided by
windows movie maker. Does this make sense?

I guess you went to...File / Save Movie File /
Recordable CD. Yes, this would be a .wmv
file on a CD...and would not play anywhere
except on a computer.

If you have a Media Center PC...the OEM
version of Movie Maker has an option to
burn a DVD but the reports I've seen have
not been good.

Anyway...if you wish to play your Movie Maker
..wmv file in a DVD player you'll have to use
additional software.

Maybe these links will get you started:

Dear John

have read the links you provided, got Sonic MyDVD and it's worked - thank
you so much.

I now have a new problem - the first disk burned fine, played back
beautifully. The next 2 disks, in completion, my computer reported "unknown
error" after the lengthy process, and neither will play. Any suggestions? I
can spend hours burning more disks....

Lastly, would you know whether, if I save the disk that works to my hard
drive, I can then merely "copy" it on a DVD burner?

regards,

Sarah
