I recently installed Win2k AS on one of two PC's I have on
my network at home. My intention was to host a web site
and forums on this machine. The problem is that, while
everything seems to be setup correctly, the 2 PC's can't
see each other. The other PC is running XP Pro and had
been hosting the web site/forums but due to it's limit of
10 users connected at one time, I wanted 2000. The 2000 PC
doesn't even see itself on the domain, let alone the other
PC. The 2000 PC can connect to the internet, but nobody
can view the web site/forums. Anyone have any ideas or
suggestions?

First off, are you using 2 network cards in each
computer? IE, one for the public internet IP and one for
only your internal network? I dare say if you are hosting
web sites you have a firewall that is forwarding inbound
packets to your internal systems but just asking. The
next thing I would make sure is that you if this is the
only 2000 server in your network have set it up as the
FSMO role and established a domain.? Once this is done,
you should go ahead and either change the workgroup of the
XP to the domain of your server or just add it to your
server's domain. Last, make sure your both using the same
subnet and similar IP's on your internal network. IE
10.10.10.1 and 2 with subnet of 255.255.255.0 which is
still more than you need but would allow for growth. Hope
this helps out some.

Nope, I have 1 NIC in each machine going through a router connected to my cable modem. I'm using no-ip for the host name for the web site. I found out that Norton Firewall was my network problem, but I still can't join the XP Pro machine to the Domain on the 2000 AS machine. Both are using the same subnet and DNS servers, which are the ones Comcast uses, which is who my cable is through. Both machines are using IP's 1 digit off from one another.
