Hi,
I've got some problems with directx. All the games that use directx
(and also quick time, Win Media Player, ecc), looks like this:

I've tried the directx diagnostic tool, and I think the problem is in
the direct3d componet; Here you can see a screenshot:

My video card is a Point of view Nvidia 6600 GT; I've got directx
9.0.c; Windows XP home; Driver video tested from 71.xx to 84.25. No
idea about origin of the problem (one day I started max payne and the
video was as you can see at the first link).

I'm sorry for my poor english.

Hi hodabes,

The first step will be to isolate if this is a software or hardware issue.

If it's a software issue:
Repair Windows and test DirectX with the standard drivers.

How to repair Windows XP:
Unplug from your Internet connection, and then repair Windows:
using this method: http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Afterwards, boot up your system, turn on your XP Internet Firewall,
plug back into your Internet connection and install all Critical and
Recommended updates from: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

If it's a hardware issue:
Check that your Video card is not running hot;
Shutdown and unplug your computer;
Remove your video card and gently clean the contacts;
Reseat the video card, and test DirectX agan.

It didn't work.

If it's a hardware issue:
Check that your Video card is not running hot;
Temperature is OK (53°C)
Shutdown and unplug your computer;
Remove your video card and gently clean the contacts;
Reseat the video card, and test DirectX agan.
I have to do that... I'll try also with another old video card. If I
can, I'll install WinXP on another partition to understand if this
problem can be releted to some specific program installed.

Thank you Jimmy :-)

Hi hodabes,

You're very welcome - Hope that it works out well for you. :-)
