Hi,
I've had my computer for over 2 years now. I've been
using it through a direct cable connection (since
purchase) until recently when I moved and began to share
a connection through a router.
I first noticed a problem with my computer whenever I
decided to take it to my friend's and attempt to LAN, my
computer would not pick up the IP that the router was
trying to address to me.
My connection now does not even associate with other IP
address other then the one given by APIPA. I've tried
ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew, repairing.. and
everything else I can think of.
I've gone and tried everything yet we still come out with
a APIPA IP address. Its usually 169.254.0.1 or something
like that.
I've tried editing the tcp/ip protocol and giving it the
address but it just sits there as dead weight.
I know the LAN connection works because when I plugin the
cable into my labtop, the setup is quick and easy.
What could be the issue? How can I resolve it?
if you could email me a response i'd be greatly thankful
your help is appreciated
