Ok, i don't have a problem creating the vid or previewing it in movie
maker...but when i save and veiw the video in windows media player the color
is distorted, i've checked my setting and drivers and found nothing, can i
get some help with this?

the source file type just says video clip, couldn't find where to show the
extensions.
and WMM is saving them as "Windows media audio/video file"

i don't have a problem viewing the source videos or the videos in WMM it's
only after i save them.

I'm having this problem too. See an example picture at:
http://www.hikinghomeschoolers.org/Family Pictures/DistortedVideo.png

I encoded a video from an analog camera using a Hauppauge capture card to an
uncompressed WMV file using Windows Media Encoder and then imported this file
into WMM on Vista. The video imported into WMM and plays fine there, but
after I publish the video I get this result upon playback. The title screen
WMM inserted looks good, but the video is all "pinkish".

MM can often save movie files, but when the source files are not fully
compatible you get odd problems, such as yours.
To display file type
open explorer and have your video files on the right hand side.
tools
folder options
view
In advance settings untick the hide extensions for known file types.

If it now says avi after the file name, we need to find what sort of avi it
is. You can do this by using avicodec, a link here
