problems with cd writer

Please can someone help me. I posted a message earlier
about my cd writer. I can burn stuff onto it fine and it
goes through all the motions, but when I put the disk
back in it is empty. Earlier someone told me to download
sp1 as I have just had to install windows xp again
recently, but it is now unavailable to download and sp1a
was no help. Does anyone know what I should do?
 
Carly, what burn software are you using and what are you trying to
burn. Music, data, Iso ?
 
Hi, I have tried both burning in media player for music
and have used to writing wizard in xp to try and write
software and jpegs, but none are working. Basically
everything seems to be working fine, but there's nothing
showing on the disc when you pop it back in
