problems with canon bjc 1000

well my probles is that when i was printing my homework the printer
show me a following mesagge:
Cannot communicate with printer.
Open the print queue and uncheck Pause Printing in the Printer menu.

so i can't continue my printing.. what can i do? what is the problem?

make sure all the cables are plugged in
 
try to reinstall printer drivers as well, helps sometimes.. whats the
interface of the printer? usb?
any way, first check, replug the interface cable, just in case :)
