steve

i am using excel 2003 on my pc. when i enter text into a
work sheet and try to either enter text as BOLD or enter
text and then Change it to BOLD i get the Microsoft error
message my work sheet is saved but the text is not bold
and i cannot change it to BOLD or enter the text as BOLD

How are you making the text bold?

What specific Microsoft error message do you get?

I try to make the text bold by either typing the text
into a cell and then clicking on the "B" on the toolbar
or clicking on the "B" on the toolbar and then typing in
text to the cell but either way i get a error message
saying:
"Microsoft office excel has encounted a problem and
needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
The information you were working on might be lost.
Microsoft office excel can try to recover it for you".

This is the first message if you click on "What data deos
this error report contain?" Then the message says
" AppName: excel.exe AppVer:11.0.61130.0 AppStamp:40076d4a
ModName:ntdll.dll ModVer:5.1.2600.1217 ModStamp:3eb1b41a
fDebug:0 Offset:00033905
Hope you can help me with this
cheers steve

Sorry, I don't know what could be causing that. I used to get crashes
regularly in Excel97/Win98 when I tried to apply certain types of
formatting, but I don't have the problem with ExcelXP/Win2K.

Silly guesses follow:

Does it happen on every workbook--even new ones?

If yes: Maybe change your printer to something else--excel uses the printer
driver to show how to display your data.

Maybe try a different font (could the font have gotten corrupted somehow?).

If that works, find your windows CD and make sure you can reinstall your font.
Then delete it and reinstall it.

Maybe it's a display setting:
windows start button|settings|control panel|display applet
settings tab|Advanced button|performance tab|adjust hardware acceleration.

If it's only one workbook/worksheet, maybe it's time to recreate that offending
worksheet/workbook.
