This one's causing me to scratch my head a lot, so any suggestions are
gratefully accepted.
A colleague has installed AVG 7 free edition on a Windows XP Home PC with a
standard dial-up connection to the internet (ClaraNet, if it's relevant).
Checking of outgoing mail has been disabled, and yet the following bounce
messages are coming back into her Outlook Express 6 inbox:
---------------
From: "AVG for Email" <avgmail@localhost>
To: <[email protected]>
Sent: Friday, January 07, 2005 11:42 PM
Subject: Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender
This is the AVG E-mail Scanner program.
I'm sorry to have to inform you that the message returned
below could not be delivered to one or more destinations.
Cannot open smtp connection to '80.168.70.141'
Connect: A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable host. (10065)
Your e-mail message is being returned to you in the next part of this
message. Try to send the message again.
Should you need assistance, please contact your administrator or your
internet service provider.
---------------
I'm at a loss to explain this. Can anyone make any suggestions as to what I
should try to fix the problem? I'd like, if at all possible, to retain
AVGAS on the machine, and I know that at a basic level it works properly, as
I have it running on my computer (XP Pro, ADSL).
TIA
gratefully accepted.
