Hi, all:
I hope someone can help me with this problem.
I have a main computer running Win XP Home and a secondary computer running
Win 98SE. I have a D-Link ethernet card in the Win XP computer and a 3Com
ethernet card in the 98SE machine. I have a D-Link router, plus all the
cables I'm supposed to have.
I've run the wizard on the XP machine without problems, but I can't get the
stuff to take on the 98SE computer. When I run from the XP CD as Microsoft
says I can, the machine reboots and says it can't complete the wizard
because it can't find the hardware. I've tried to put in a floppy disk, but
I'm told basically the same thing.
Does anyone out there have any ideas how I can get this up and working. I've
got Internet access for both machines, but I can't access one machine from
the other or share my printer, files, etc.
Thanx in advance for any help.

Do it manually. Go to control panel. Double click on network. Click on
add then service. Then double click on File and printer sharing for Microsoft
networks. The click on okay. It will probably ask for the winsows98
installation disk.

Hi, Tony:
Thanks for the advice. I've got the file sharing up and working now, and
it's just a matter of getting the printer to print.
The second computer can see the printer, but my tests timed out, saying the
printer wasn't ready. I assume it's a driver problem and I'm going to update
my drivers and see what happens.
Thanks again.

Glad you got it working. You will need the W98 printer drivers on the W98
machine and XP ones on the XP machine. If you get updated ones, its a good
idea to delete the printer and reinstall using the updated ones.

Hi There:
Thanx again. Got the printer up and running (yes, it was the drivers) so
everything looks good.
Thanx for your help.
