Problems with 2gb flash drive

I recently purchased a 2gb flash drive formy home use. The first time I
plugged it into my study machine, it was recognised, no problems. I wanted
to add a program to my laptop, so I copied the file to the drive and removed
it properly via the icon in the tray. Plugged the drive into my laptop, no
problems. Now if I go to put the drive into my main computer, I get the
audio sound saying it has been plugged in and about 5 secs later anothe sound
that would happen if I took it out without going through the correct
procedure. No matter what I do I cannot get that drive to be recognised by
my main computer. I have another much smaller flash drive that works fine on
both computers. This one has me somewhat mystified and any ideas/help would
be much appreciated.

If the drive is faulty, why then does it work ok on my laptop.

Let's make sure. Go into Control Panel to Computer Management.
Open Disk Management and check if the flash drive is recognized.
It might be missing a drive letter. If this is the case, then
manually assign it a drive letter. OTOH, if the flash drive is
not seen in Disk Management, then it is defective.

I've had alot of problems with USB pen drives picking and choosing which
windows configurations they want to show up under. The work-around that I've
found is to open an application like Excel, and click the Open button. This
brings up the pop-up folder explorer. You should see the drive installed in
the root, right click it and open. You should now be able to read/write from
the drive as normal. Explore option will not work however, it will send you
back to My Computer instead. Hope this helps..

Thanks for the replies, I have found the problem. I rang the manufacturer
who advised me to download a small program for their drives which formats the
pendrive. After doing this all works perfectly. I know this should not need
to be done, but it has been fixed. The manufacture is Legend in Australia and
the program which only works on their drives is called G-format from their
site.
