Problems using these newsgroups

Is anyone else experiencing problems similar to those I've been experiencing
here during the last few days? They include:

1. Very slow response. The newsgroup often takes up to a minute to appear
(it used to be a lot faster, and I'm not encountering the problem with any
other websites).
2. When I post a reply, five times out of ten I get a 'page unavailable'
error and have to repost. [like just now!!]
3. Worst of all, some posts (not all) are failing to download to Outlook
Express. I only discover the existence of these (which include some of my own
posts) by logging on through Internet Explorer.

Are others encountering these kinds of things? Or is it just me?

I've had problems with Item 2. as well. Seems like the program won't stay on
long enough for me to type in my message.

Hi Dave.

While I do not use OE to view these groups, I`ve experienced item (1) in
your post frequently over the past few days. ie slow response times,
information bar (sometimes) indicating page done with errors and even worse,
its not unusual for only half the page to appear. All courtesy IE7 ;)

I had similar problems encountered over the past weekend and continuing, Alan.
Your post has yet to arrive in my OE newsreader so I'm using the browser.

FWIW, the problem seems to be getting worse. Currently I'm seeing 16
messages not downloaded in the 4 groups I subscribe to on this server.
Alan's post that you replied to is one of them and your message has this
reference:
<[email protected]>

Perhaps it would be a good time to update the servers or take them down and
do some sanity checks.

If it helps anyone track things down,

I posted the Delta Update link in Announcements at: 3:58 PM PST
that's 2 hours ago.

The post is showing in Firefox,
but NOT in Thunderbird.

Seems in my case Web view is working better than NewsReader view.

Strange

I received the message I referenced above on the next update. Ran cports and
found 44 ports connected to the server in a time-wait state.

This morning, Outlook Express seems to be back on the job, with a whole
flurry of posts waiting that previously I could only access via IE. So maybe
someone cleared the logjam.

Just an update...the count is now 33 messages that can't be downloaded in 3
newsgroups.

There was some talk long ago on a new version of these newsgroups, perhaps
when WD left beta status. Is there any hope?

every day I get messages that will not download.
have reset groups and download all and used catch up.
used catch up daily.
still next day it syncs and shows messages not read.
telling it to read next does nothing.

it has not been uncommon in other ms groups to have server sync problems and ms had to sort it out.

is it possible that is what is wrong here.

Hi Bob,

This is going on for a long time, just because there is a maximum of
server room and always the oldest are dropping out, so you may count on.
I got in Thunderbird the option to update and trow all the missing away
if i click on such a old message!

I surely recognize what you describe, but this is something new. It isn't
just old messages. I often see replies without the original messages.

Hi Bob,

Just did a test in General, the first message is from 23-06-2007, there
where 10 messages of that date, then i click on the first 7 and the
messages where not there, than i use the option to clean and then that 7
where gone, but a reply message was still there in this case at this
moment is the first message in General"Re:"skip or Deny"from Engel! Date
23-10-2006. The starter of the treat is gone, even some replies!
So i think that is normal on the server so if i answer with this message
it could be that the message "Re:"skip or Deny"from Engel is gone!

Thanks for the effort, Tom. I see you're using tbird and I'm using OE6. I
see nothing from 23-6-2007, but I do see 40 messages not downloaded in this
newsgroup alone. Perhaps I should give tbird a try.
