Problems using Access 97 files in Access 2000.

I have recieved an Access 97 database. I have Access 2000
on my PC. I want to be able to update the macros on this
database.

I also want to import files, and save, but the options are
being greyed out.

Is there any way of this can be done.

You must convert the database to 2000 format (Tools / Database Utilities /
Convert Database) from Access 2000 to be able to change the design of
objects. You'll have to convert it back to 97 format if you need to send
your changes back to someone who has only Access 97.

Start Access 2000. Do not open the 97 database. Choose Tools / Database
Utilities / Convert Database -- and then point to the original Access 97
database that you want to convert. If you've already opened the database
once and you didn't accept the prompt to convert it, Access 2000 placed
additional info in the 97 file to allow you to run the application but not
modify it. You should still be able to convert it as long as you don't have
it open.

Try opening the file and then see if there is a save as
Click to expand...
command in the file menu. This ought to give you a number
of options like save a copy or save as access97 and if my
memory is correct it might be that there is a selection
that will allow you to ssave it as 2000 and 97 format in
the one file let me know how you make what happens.Oh! do
not forget to backup the file before you begin
