I'm trying to upgrade an HP Pavilion 552W which has XP Home on it to
XP Pro. Unfortunately, the upgrade CD is giving me a compatibility
warning as follows:
NVIDIA AGP filter
=================

The currently installed driver for the NVIDIA NForce device is not
compatible with this version of Microsoft Windows. Setup will not be
able to complete.

To download a new NVIDIA NForce driver, visit NVIDIA's Web site
(www.nvidia.com). Web addresses can change, so you might be unable to
connect to this Web site.

For a list of devices supported by this version of Windows, see the
list of compatible hardware on the Microsoft Web site.

(End quote)

The problem is that this machine has an SiS video card as best I can
tell, according to Device Manager. Is this something I should worry
about? If so, how do I fix this?

I don't think an HP (OEM) machine is going to upgrade from a standard MS
upgrade CD. I think you would need the OEM CD from HP for Pro (and the
specific Pavillion).

Here's the first hit returned by a Google search for NVIDIA AGP
filter. You may find the information in the Microsoft article
helpful.

message when you try to upgrade to Windows XP Professional

Good luck
