I just bought a Casio EX-Z1000 digital camera and have a load of pictures to
transfer to my computer. I have tried using the software that came with the
camera as well as using XP's transfer software but I keep running into a
problem with the transfer. When you using Casio's software, I keep getting
"an unknown error has occurred" and I get either some pictures transferred or
none at all. I also have problems when using XP's transfer software. I may
get one or two transferred but I'll get a message about "try again or skip"
that photo. Once I start skipping, no other pics can be transffered.

Has anyone else had this problem before?

Your camera is nothing but another memory device to Windows. Try finding the
camera through Explorer, and see if you can get the files that way.

Yes, I've already tried dragging the pictures from the camera to my pc but I
get the same error.

I've tried to reinstall the software, rebooted the computer, removed and
replaced the camera but nothing seems to work. I hope its nothing wrong with
the camera or the pics.

You may have better luck using a memory card reader. If you don't own one,
maybe you know someone who does so you can try it with your card. It's much
simpler than installing a camera device, portable card readers can install
themselves when needed within seconds, just like a USB flash drive does.

If you want to buy one, I recommend the multi-readers (5-in-1, 12-in-1).
They start around $20 at your local electronic stores, but you can find them
cheaper at some online retailers (NewEgg).
