problems starting video capture

whenever i click on capture video I get a message"the video device cannot be
used at this time because there has been an error when starting the device. I
have a Vaio pvcrz34g computer. It also has a click to dvd program that comes
up with a device not turned on or connected error when I try to use it.This
worked a month ago but now this message is now showing up. Sony was no help
with either problem
