I've been having a problem shutting down for quite some
time now. I've tried to help myself, by plowing through
the the online help guide, but has thusfar been useless.

My computer shutdown by itself, automatically, and when
gets to the Windows is shutting down screen, it simply
stays there in active. I can't even turn the computer off
at the console becasue there is only one button and thats
for restarting.

Can any help? I have provided my e-mail with this post,
so if anyone has teh vaguest of ideas, please mail-me.

Thanks

To whom it may concern,

Sounds like a big problem,

1. All systems have power buttons, check the back of the
pc for a black on/off switch, if not hold the button in
for approximately 5 seconds and this should power the
unit off. If you are extremely desperate pull the power
cord on the back of your pc.

2. You need to find out if the shutdown problem is a
similar incident each time, meaning that you need to
troubleshoot it down to when it happens, it very well
could be hardware.

3. Depending on the operating system, lockups on shutdown
are usually improperly configured antivirus software
(where the system may be checking floppies, etc. on
shutdown), and also video drivers/problems cause alot of
shutdown issues, this was a MAJOR problem with the Win'98
operating system.

4. Virus scan, virus scan, virus scan, update and run
frequently.... this could be causing alot of issues.

5. If none of these help, I would suggest taking your
machine to someone that is certified to fix this kind of
issue. This problem sounds like it may be above your
knowledge base and it may be worth the money and not the
frustration to have a professional fix it for you!

Good luck,
