Hi,
I've read tons of postings dealing with this issue, but still can not
find the right answer. Here is the situation...
I have a desktop and laptop both running WinXP Pro and both have a
working internet connection through my SMC wireless router. I would
like to be able to share files between the two computers, but each
computer can not get access to the other computer. Both are wired
through the router ports and not running on wireless. Here is
everything I have tried so far, but has not worked.
- I ran the network setup wizard many times.
- Both computers are on the same workgroup name (and not MSHOME)
- I disabled windows xp firewall and shut down zone alarm on both
computers.
- I have checked the box for "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP" under Local
Area Connection Properties --> TCP/IP (Properties) --> Advanced... -->
WINS tab
- I am able to ping each computer from the other computer.
Any suggestions? Thanks so much in advance!! I've spent hours upon
hours trying to get this to work. **sigh**
