If they didn't raise the possibility of non Vista compatible
antivirus software... sack the sniveling crooks!

I am also having this problem. All of my comcast info is inputed correctly
but I still get this error: "The connection to the server has failed.
Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'mail.comcast.net', Protocol: POP3,
Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

any ideas....Tx in advance

Hi! I also am having problems setting up my email account. The error message
I get is

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'fifi.larue', Server:
'mail.comcast.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error:
10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Anyone have any thoughts? The settings are all correct and I can pop my
email from my old computer, but since I bought and set up my new one, I
cannot get it to work (Windows Vista).

Thanks!

Did you look at the URL quoted below? If you had, you'd find
that port 587 is preferred over port 110. When you change to port 587,
also enable "My server requires authentication."

If that does not solve the problem, make sure you are not running
a non-compatible antivirus like McAfee or Norton.

Thanks, Gary.

Yes, I changed the port. I also disabled Norton for email scanning. Do I
need to take the whole thing off?

We have seen many reports here from users who got no relief
until Norton (or McAfee) was completely uninstalled.
