problems saving spreadsheets

In my company we use an Excel spreedsheet to do expense reports. I am able
to save my work the first time with no problems, but when I try to save it
for a second time I get an error report telling me that I the program has to
close and the changes don't get save. I am using office 2000, but I dont
know if the spreedsheet was created with the same version.
