Maybe someone could help with this
In April of this year I upgraded my ME to XP pro. everything was fine
until my C: drive crashed last week. So I reformated the C: drive and
reinstalled XP from the CD (No ME) everything was going great until I
tried to intall some drivers. When I ran the setup programs I got an
error message saying something about not able to run a 16bit program
or a file not found. They ran ok when XP was installed over ME. They
ran ok in windows ME.
Can anyone point me in some direction the fix this problem.

Thanks
Gary

Lacy try this:

If the program installed okay, then locate the program
icon on your desktop OR click on Start and then find it.
Once you do, RIGHT click on it and then select the
tab "Compatibility".

Next click or check the box "Run this program in
compatibility mode for:"

Use the pull down menu and try different systems.

Then click "Apply" and "OK"

If that doesn't work or you've had problems installing
the program, you'll have to either go to the company's
web site that made the program and search for answers or
call them.

You could also give more information here by reposting
details:

Program Name????
Error Message????
OS???

Thanks for the Quick reply
The operating system: XP Pro
The program name: it the set up program for a HP scanner, From HP
error message: Can't run 16-bit Windows Program
Cannot find file
D:\Electronics_9\Drivers\HP-ScanJet IIcx-XP\DISK1\Setup.exe(or one of
its components). Check to ensure the path and filename are correct and
that all required libraries are available.

What I downloaded was a self extacting file which extacts to a default
Dir "My Documents". in the past I would move the files to my driver
dir on another disk and everything work fine

in this case I try to run the set up program on the D: drive and I get
the error message, But you know, if is extract the files to the
default dir "MyDoctuments" and run it, it works fine

I tried using Run, My Computer to run this on the D: Drive and get the
same error message. Also I tried the compatibility mode (Win95) same
results.

I've been seening this error message a lot on other programs.
I also see it when I set the the associate for a *.nfo to wordpad. I
double click on the *.nfo I get the Error message.
