Hi,

I created an image on a compaq M700 laptop, using Ghost 7,
I then tried to dump this image onto a compaq evo n610c
laptop. This process worked fine no problems... The PC
boots and detect the new hardware. However on the next
reboot the blue screen of death comes up giving me the
message:

0x0000001E (0xC0000005,0xEB547C5B,0x00000001,0x00000004)
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

asking me to change video cards or drivers.

I can boot into safe mode and uninstall or disable the
video driver, and it will reboot no problems, provided
that the system does not try to load the MOBILITY RADEON
7500 graphics card. I have also tried re-installing the
video dirver from here, and it installs fine and works, I
can change resolutions and refresh rates no problem but as
soon as I reboot... blue screen... same error.

I have treid to disable all devices and then re-installing
the driver in an attempt to resolve a possible confilct of
resources but once again no change.

I am very frustrated now any help would be much
appreciated.

regards,

Blair.

hmmmm do you have any idea how to force win2000 to remove
all video drivers and install a generic vga driver???

Yep, manually delete appropriate .inf files from %windir%\inf, drivers from
system32\drivers, and delete driver.cab from 'driver cache\i386'.
Seriously, you would edit the registry and delete all ATI incursions.

boot from CD and run repair

or run an install and add the appropriate drivers at the
prompt.

Do an inplace install - link in the KB

Run 'sfc/ scannow'; re-apply SP4; try both Compaq and ATI drivers
(install/uninstall/install). Did you install chipset drivers?
Did you run 'sysprep' with mini-setup when you prepared an image?

if you put a ghost image onto a system that has different
hardware to the system that the image was taken from you can
quite often get into difficulty with drivers.

The microsoft knowledge base (KB) will allow you to search
for articles that may be relevant to your problem
www.microsoft.com

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=fh;[ln];kbhowto

This process allows you to re install win2K and upfate or
add the appropriate drivers at the right time.
