I am running a 1 gig/300 MB RAM Windows2k system with the latest service
packs & updates. I am running the latest free version of ZoneAlarm as a
firewall.
I connect to the Internet using a Speedstream DSL modem. My provider is
SBC.
Approximately three weeks ago, I began to have trouble routing to certain
web sites: www.lileks.com and www.matthowarth.com are two of them. When I
try to connect, I get a 404. If I connect from another PC (not using the
same connection, alas), both sites are up.
I've done a tracert, and the signal seems to time out after a certain number
of hops. When I tracert other sites, however, such as Yahoo.com or
www.nationalreview.com, there are even more hops, but no problems reaching
the server.
My provider assures me that the problem is on my end (or at least isn't on
their end.)
I have tried uninstalling ZoneAlarm...this has no effect whatsoever.
Is there anything else I might try?
Thanks!
