whats wrong with it it just disapears from the screen
without any error messages. like couple of days ago i
installed edobe photoshop from kazaa could that be the
problem? and out of no where some webdav apeared in my
start menu.
Please help some one i dont know what to do
my email is (e-mail address removed)
Thanks

The first thing you need to do is remove some spyware that
might have come along w/ that download. Go to
http://www.komando.com/shareware_show.asp?showID=346

Download the program and install and run it. That's step
one. By the way, if the program finds anything called new
dot net, uncheck the box that says it will remove it.
This little bit of spyware is very nasty and SHOULD NOT be
removed with going into start/settings/control panels/add
remove.

Now, this will probably not solve the problem you are
having, but it's a very important start. And seriously
consider not downloading software this way - and I am not
speaking from a moral perspective. Truth is, you will
most likely end up w/ more problems than it's worth.

Let us know what happens next.

hi sasha i think your problem is when you download
anything off kazza it is paid for by advertising ,you
need a program called adaware which should get rid of all
the advertising programs that you inadvertantly
downloaded ,this might be your problem with regedit i
have this program and do a lot of downloading and i have
no problems. lee

hi there are you seeing a file in your startup folder
something like tftp1616 or tftp 1672 me and have had them
on monday night i wasnt sure why it was happening so what
i did was to do a system restore back before monday eg
sunday and then once thats done then you msconfig would
come back on working again it has fixed mine and my
friends computer so give that a try hope it works for you
one other thing as well is to check your internet
firewall i was just told that there was an update on it
on windows update

Did you happen to get the system shutdown message too?
Because I got that and it said it was the RPC thing. now
I can't open msconfig, windows task manager and regedit
without it closing before I could even do anything.

First of all, a best practice is to keep your virus definitions up to
date. Also, from your My Computer box, go to the Tools dropdown and
select folder options. Select the view tab, and then select the show
hidden files and folders button.

Then, whenever you download a program or any sort of executable off of
Kazaa, take the simple step of right-clicking on the file and scanning
it with Norton Antivirus BEFORE you open it. Chances are that if you
go back and scan the original file now, you will quickly discover the
folly of your ways.

I am currently struggling to deal with the same problem on a friend's
computer. It appears to be a trojan that is associated with the brand
spanking new virus called lovesan/blaster, as it came in to my buddy's
computer at the exact same time the first Lovesan problem appears in
event view. It may be associated with the variant BlasterB for which
there isn't much info at the moment. This virus exploits a recently
discovered flaw in Windows XP.

To get rid of Lovesan and fix most of the damage, follow all the
instructions here: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.html.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get rid of the tftp#### problem,
as it keeps appearing in startup, though now it appears to no longer
be working.

There is an association with this and a hidden folder c:\windows\pss.
That's all I know right now.
