I have just got a new p.c running with Windows XP home, I have been trying to open j.peg files I have downloaded and I am having problems opening and viewing them, my p.c says they will open in windows picture and fax viewer but when I try and open them they don't show up and it says no preview available, how can I resolve this as I need to print them off a.s.a.p, I have also tried viewing them in two other programmes I have installed Nero 6 and Expressit (they are cd covers I want to print off). Can anyone help?

Hey Kat,
There is a way to make sure you can view and print the pictures you need.
[] First option is to open a folder (Right-click Start, Explore) and then go to Tools> Folder Options> File Types. Now you will see all the file extensions and the programs that are associated with those file extensions. Scroll down to the JPEG area and there you will see what program is used to view JPEG images. Click the JPEG icon and then click on CHANGE and select Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. Do that for all the JPG file extensions.

Thanks for your reply, I've tried your suggestion and I'm afraid it hasn't made any difference,I still can't open the files, it's puzzling me as I am saving them and trying to open them like I did with my older PC which was on Windows 98, I know it's a newer version but I didn't think it would be any different when doing this kind of thing, any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Perhaps these are not legit .jpg files?

If they are, you should be able to open them in the free Irfanview from
http://www.irfanview.com. Or the program may tell you what kind of files
they truly are.

Hi Kat,

I don't know if it is just a consistent typo on your part or what, but the file extension of most JPEG files is '.jpg' If you
type the extension wrong, the Picture & FAx viewer may not know how to open the file.

Hi, It was just a typo on my part, the .jpegs are actually saved as .jpegs but my pc just doesn't seem to be recognising them no matter which software i try to open them with it just keeps saying that the files are not recognised, it doesn't seem to be recognising .art files either.any suggestions?
