I am looking for some assistance in overcoming a problem with hardware and to
be fair, I have lso posted this question in the HARDWARE area of this forum,
but wasn't sure where it was most relevant
Notebook - Compaq nc6220 Intel Pentium M770 @ 2.13GHz, 2Gb RAM, Matshita
UJ-822Da DVD-RW drive, Hitatchi 60Gb Travelstar HDD - think this covers the
pertinent hardware
Load XP Installation cd, boot from cd, runs through loading all necessary
files and after advising that setup is starting windows, it crashes out to
the blue screen of death with and error message
Technical information
*** STOP: 0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xF748E0BF, 0xF78DA208, , 0xF78D9F08)
*** pci.sys - Address F74BE0BF base at F7487000, Datestamp 3b7d855c
Naturally this makes it somewhat impossible to install a fresh installation
on Windows XP as I can't boot off the cd
Bought the unit with XP Professional already installed, but did update the
RAM from 512Mb to 2Gb and also the processor from an M750 to an M770
Any assistance appreciated - all other functionality working perfectly
including access to the DVD-RW from within Windows XP
Thank you in advance for your thoughts and ideas
Kind regards
David
