Hi,

Recently, I started having problems loading a few web
pages (such as google). Thinking that this was a spyware
problem, I downloaded this microsoft AntiSpyware
software. After downloading it and running it, it
detected 6 potentially risky items. I deleted 5 and
quarantined 1 as recommended by the software.

However, even after doing that I am still not able to
load google.com (for instance).

Does anyone have any ideas, as to what the problem really
is ?

Thanks,

Barry

hi barry , have you recently blocked any IP Address in
your firewall(maybe they belong to Google, as ive done this
before), hope this helps NarcD

Yes, I can access other websites..I could get into nyt,
ibm, msnbc, microsoft etc..homepages. However, CNN seems
to be a problem..I guess it is a random selection of web
pages having a problem

Any changes to your Internet service lately. One issue
that can cause this appearance is an MTU issue, often
related to a 'dsl service using PPPoE--i.e. requiring a
username/password authentication.

This shouldn't start happening suddenly, however, unless
perhaps it relates to some reconfiguration of the ISP's
network.

The usual solution if you are using a router, is to set
the MTU to 1492 in the router--most routers have a way to
do this.

However, if you aren't on 'DSL, this is unlikely to be
your issue, so you should probably ignore this!

Are you using AOL 9.0 Security Edition?

If so, I'm having the same problem.

It's actually AOL Dailer that's causing this!

When this happens, launch AOL and the stupid thing will
let you load pages.
