Hey all,
I'm trying to rebuild an older computer for a family friend that only needs
it for wordprocessing and internet.
I put win 98 (not Second edition) on the harddrive. Everything ran
perfectly after first install. Restarted again to make sure everything was
kosher .. still all good.
Then I tried to install my modem driver and it asked which com port I wanted
to use (com1 or com2) I chose com 1 accidentally which the mouse was using.
I rebooted the comp and the mouse didn't work.
I installed generic serial drivers for the mouse and before rebooting the
mouse starting working again. But after rebooting the mouse did not work
and I had to reinstall the driver each session for it to work.
I uninstalled the modem drivers and reinstalled the drivers on com2 but I'm
still having the same problems. I install the mouse driver for the session
then after reboot it stops again.
Any help is appreciated. The serial mouse is all I have to work with, but
my friend has a PS/2 mouse and I'm not sure if the problem will remain even
if the PS/2 mouse is used.
Thanks in advanced
