Problems installing Office 2000 in Vista

I am having problems installing office 2000 in Vista Home Basic. The
installating starts fine but while installing it will tell me to find a
random file and see if I can access it. Then it gives me two options - Retry
or cancel. Cancel stops the entire install. Retry sends it thinking for
some time before the same screen pops up and asks me to find the same file.

Installation of Wordperfect Office 11 gives me the same problems.

Any way to fix either one?

Thanks

Did you right click on the installation file and choose run as
administrator? I haven't tried to install WP11. I have WP12 and that
installed/ran fine. Not sure if WP11 will.

Install OpenOffice.org?

I got Microsoft office 2000 to install by going to control pannel, clicking
on programs, and the "this program runs under an older version of Windows"
option (not the exact wording, but something like that). I followed the
directions using the settings for Windows 2000 and the program installed
without problems.

I tried the same with WP11 to no luck. I will try your suggestion later
tonight.

thanks

Ok good you used the compatibility wizard to install Office 2000. Good luck
with WP11. You might have to upgrade to the latest, Corel calls is X3 (for
WP13). I know that is compatible. I am using WP12 with no problems. The
upgrade cost to X3 is somewhat pricey.

I will give my WP12 install a shot sometime this week.

I would expect it to run fine, except for the Help function. I haven't
gotten around to doing the fix on that yet. All functions work fine. It's
at SP3 now.
