Recently purchased HP with WindowsXP and MS Office pre-installed. I have
purchased the full license.Trying to add my purchased copy of FP2003 and I
keep getting errors, cannot find Office files to continue installation. I
direct the computer to my C drive, where MS Office is, but is ignored, and I
don't have the discs to put in when it asks for it. Do I have to wait till my
backup media arrives, or is there a workaround?
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Sound like you purchased an Upgrade version, not the full version.

Is the Frontpage 2003 you have the full or upgrade version?

If it is the upgrade, you require a previous version of FP to upgrade from
(each and every time you install it the newer product). First it looks on
your hard drive for a qualifying product and if it can't find any, it asks
you to insert the CD for the previous version to check it qualifies as an
upgradeable product.

Teacher/Student editions are not eligible (hence one reason for the cheaper
price), and I don't think OEM editions qualify either.

Also, check the packaging - it should clearly state "Upgrade Version" and on
the side of the box state the upgrade qualifying products you need to
install the software.

Your backup media will not be of use in this regard since it won't have
Frontpage on it. The backup media would only contain an "image" of your HDD
used to restore the computer to its original factory state (involving
reformatting, repartitioning the hard drive etc), not the actual complete
CD's of each software application (this is an assumption since I thought HP
machines usually had the hidden partition with the backup(restore) files).

I have the upgrade of FP2003, and the qualifying products listed according
to the box are:

Office XP Developer (includes Frontpage)
Office XP Professional + Frontpage
Offie XP Professional Special Edition (includes Frontpage)
Office 2000 Developer (includes Frontpage)
Office 2000 Premium (includes Frontpage)
Frontpage 2002
Frontpage 2000
Frontpage 98
Frontpage 97

MS Office on its own is not a qualifying upgrade product for Frontpage.

Also, for your info, the EULA states that a upgraded product must cease to
be used once the upgrade is installed. i.e. you can't continue using FP98 if
it was used to upgrade to FP2003.
